STOCKWELL PARK HOUSE
_ingARCHITECTS have recently been appointed on a semi-detached family home in Stockwell, in the prestigious Stockwell Park Conservation Area.
The existing property accommodates four bedrooms and two bathrooms across the upper two floors, with a large double reception room to ground floor level, stretching front to back, with spectacular views of the rear garden. The lower ground floor of this property, housing the kitchen, dining and utility feels cramped, segregated and poorly connected to the rear garden.
The client's brief was to improve the connection and views out to the rear garden from the lower ground floor level, whilst adding an additional bedroom with shower room for guests/nanny. A larger utility room and a potential area to work was also a priority.
The proposed design incorporates a contrasting, contemporary extension with floor to ceiling glazed, sliding doors which open at the corner, creating a large opening with direct access to a new lowered terrace. A planted, green roof will create additional soft landscaping and provide a landscaped vista from the reception rear doors.
Reconstructing the existing side infill extension and incorporating it into the internal layout of the property will create a useful boot room and side access through the house, all lit by a large flat glazed roof window.
